February 2020: Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) and London School of Trends (LST) take Indian Fashion to Foreign by celebrating the Craftsmanship of emerging Indian student Designers at Vibrant India during New York Fashion Week on February 7, 2020, for the 4th Season. Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) is the first fashion institute in the world to have showcased their students’ collection at two major fashion capitals of the world New York for the 4th Season and London for the 7th season and Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai for last 25 consecutive seasons.
Based on the themes No Place for Waste, Real Champions of India & Avant-Garde the show was a perfect amalgamation of rich Indian Textiles and techniques along with the internationally accepted cuts and designs. Students created collections that reflect thought-provoking construction and aesthetic with New York sensibility. Models sashayed on the ramp displaying rich Indian cultural heritage blended with western aesthetics. Capturing the spirit of India with students coming from diverse backgrounds, they focused on fall-winter trends while embracing a certain and exciting season. Vibrant India speaks to the movement, weaves, draping, and all that is unique about Indian textiles. Its vibrant colours, with rich deep hues and fabrics, that are one-of-a-kind due largely to the craftsmanship that makes India a powerhouse source for fashion and goods. This Indian show at NYFW mesmerized the Fashion glitterati and media of New York.
The garments designed by students of INIFD Deccan lit up the runway of NewYork Fashion Week with their fabulous designs streamed on the theme name- “The Real Champions of Indian Fashion”. This theme honoured traditional Indian Crafts switched up with modern colour pairings and different techniques mixed in. This passion for fashion in them not only made INIFD Deccan feel prestigious but also enriched the nation to inhale a breath of pride by representing a nation and its name at outdoors. Students of INIFD Deccan who have highlighted their names in this international platform of fashion design are Snaezel Dsouza, Suvarna Zantye, Vaishnavi Myakal, Pratiksha Goyal, Pooja Patidar, Kajal Tiwari, Aishwarya Soni, Priti Jain, Priyanka Borawade for Black satin fabric; brocade and mirror work, Gauri Mamde and Gauri Kanfade marked their names with their astounding work on Aplic & Patchwork.
This season of NYFW raised the benchmark and fashion space for the students to portray the sequential designs with new concepts and creativity. This growing fashion & beauty industry is all about connections driven by passion, fuelled by talent. And an International platform like NewYork Fashion Week is a luxury opportunity for a student to have a new dimension as an educational experience to line-up their profile and creativity offered by institutions like INIFD Deccan. This is not enough to say but “being a brand name in the industry of fashion design INIFD Deccan always keeps its feet on ground and wings on the sky by letting its students shine like a star”.
