Pune. July 8, 2020: The district administration of Pune has taken containment measures in the densely populated rural areas outside the vicinity of the city due to a rise in coronavirus cases. The district collector of Pune Naval Kishore Ram said that he has directed all the officials of these rural areas to declare a containment alert if five or more cases are being detected in the jurisdiction of the Gram Panchayat.
This decision was taken following the guidelines issued by the central government and the Indian Council of Medical Research. The collector said that villagers were not following the practice of proper social distancing, wearing masks and avoiding overcrowded areas. Hence, a red alert will be created if cases begin to increase. The administration is also going to form flying squads which will penalise people violating rules and instructions.
There has been a rise in 2500 cases with Haveli, Junnar Mulshi and Shirur among the worst hit blocks. Naval Kishore said that considering the rise of cases in the urban areas also there is a need to extend the containment zones in PCMC and PMC limits.
