Pune, July 9, 2020: The local residents of the city have called for a strict lockdown in Hinjewadi area of Pune which is known as the IT hub and surrounding villages due to the rising cases of coronavirus. The shutdown will be implemented from July 9 to 16 in localities like Hinjawadi, Maan, Marunji, Jambhe and Nerhe. The Gram Panchayats have exempted the IT ventures and essential service providers from this lockdown.

The Sarpanch of the Hinjawadi and Marunji and the Gram Panchayat of Maan has taken this crucial step to impose Janata Curfew. However, the IT people have to present their identity cards to access the roads. Wearing a mask has been made compulsory for them to commute through the roads.

Essential services like groceries and medicine stores have been excluded from the lockdown. Milk providers are allowed to deliver from 6 am to 9 pm. Any citizen found without a mask will be penalised with a fine of Rs. 500.

Many buildings and areas in Hinjewadi and surrounding villages have been declared as small red zones. There was an increase of 27 positive cases in the last three days around the areas of the Infotech Park, Nerhe, Jambe, Maan and Marunji.
