Pune, July 23, 2020: The rise in the coronavirus cases in Mumbai and Pune will contribute in testing the efficiency of the vaccine developed in Oxford University and Astrazeneca said by the Serum Institute of India.
Officials of the Serum Institute said that by the end of August the vaccine will be tested on almost 4000-5000 people across these two regions. Serum Institute is the local manufacturer of the vaccine in partnership with Oxford University. The institute will conduct trials to ensure that the vaccine is safe and suitable for Indians.
Adar Poonawalla said that the vaccine will be tested on the selected hotspot areas of Mumbai and Pune to determine its efficiency.
