The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs to consider reopening the movie theatres in the phase 3 of unlock in India. All the cinema halls were shut in India since the mid of March, 2020.
Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas said that the team is expecting to get permission and resume their services by the end of September. PVR has come up with a completely contactless transaction system where there will be no cash transaction. People have to scan QR codes to book tickets and order food and beverage. No physical tickets will be sold.
Physical body checks are also not included in the process. There will be a sensor at the entrance gate which will be followed by temp[erature checks. All multiplexes are to op[erate with 50% capacity.
