Pune, August 14, 2020: The Disaster Management authority of Pune announced an alert for for Pune city, Haveli, Shirur and Daund as all gates of Khadakwasla dam has been opened and water has been flowing from there in the Mutha river. Due to heavy rainfall the water level in the dam increased and reached to its peak level. As a result the authorities had to release water from the dam.
Officials from the Disaster Management team addressed the PMC by issuing a letter which said that citizens should not be allowed to go near the river or park their vehicles along the river bed area. They will release more water depending on the rainfall in the coming days.
The Bhide bridge in the Deccan area of Pune is likely to go under water. Pune traffic police has put barricades and restricted entries to riverside roads.
