A curtain raiser issued by the defence ministry on Friday said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be accompanying women army soldiers while flag hosting at the Red Fort, New Delhi. A 21 gun salute fired by gunners of the 2233 Field Battery will take place at Red Fort while hosting the Indian tricolour flag. Major Shweta Pandey is the electronic and mechanical officer from the women army.
Earlier, women officers have carried out such roles and assisted in the 26th January parade. This event was also attended by the defence Minister Rajnath Singh. PM Modi to deliver speech after the flag hosting ceremony.
Major Shweta has carried this tricolour Indian flag last year during the Vicorty Parade in Moscow in the month of June. She is a resident of Lucknow and was commissioned into service in March 2012 from officers training academy, Chennai.
