Pune, August 24, 2020: Pune’s Mayor Murlidhar Mohol today announced that all ganesh idols are to be immersed in mobile water tanks or clay pot home itself. Immersion of idols in rivers is prohibited. This decision has been taken to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. He appreciated the city dwellers to keep the celebration restricted to individual homes this year.
This year the immersion for the 10-day Ganesh festival is allowed in the rivers or riverside areas. A total number of 30 mobile immersion tanks have been made available by the officials. Arrangements for ammonium bicarbonate to immerse idols at home itself have also been made available.
